Hmmm, those aren't diodes, they're mostly capacitors (an electrical component capable of storing an electrical charge).

(I was an electronics tech for 20 years before I went straight and decided to make an honest living. :)

Love this, I've always been fascinated by the Antikythra mechanism but I had no idea someone had built one. They should market replicas. I'd buy one.
