Tattoo'd Fish.

In Wu Han China, people have been purchasing tattoo’d fish. Customers can chose from many different Chinese characters such as “Wealth, Dragon, Longevity, Happiness…”

These tropical fish have been very popular as people buy them for Fengshui and they are supposed to bring you good luck.
Link. Now somebody tell me how the heck you tattoo a fish.

Is it just me, or do many of the photos off weirdasiannews always seem kinda photoshopped and fake? Are they meant to be photos or photo illustrations?

I believe dye is injected into the fish subcutaneously with a syringe. There is more info about it, along with an appeal not to buy such fish, on the Practical Fishkeeping Magazine website:

I should give a better link to the Practical Fishkeeping Dyed Fish Campaign page, it's not linked from the home page.

Gloria, I know what you mean. There's something about the lighting they use that makes them look fake, but apparently there is such a thing as fish tattoos.

I just saw these in my local fish store. In Fort Lee NJ. They had a few with fairly poor tattoos. It's not right to subject a pet to unnecessary pain. Real fish markings are so beautiful, why do this?
