These are just what you need for ducking down pipes, jumping on Goombas and saving pixelated Princesses. Converse has announced that their series of Super Mario shoes will be available to gamers and non-gamers alike this summer. A basic design featuring a repeating pattern of little Marios on a white or black background will be rolled out in July. The two designs set for an August release depict entire scenes of the game – the first level and the last level (shown).

You’re just walking along with one of your friends, enjoying the lovely day and the grass between your non-existent toes – then a plumber comes out of nowhere and… the terror! The terror!
You can probably guess what happens next.
Many of us find ourselves working multiple jobs, even balancing simultaneous careers – but nobody has a LinkedIn profile like Mario! From plumber to doctor to race car driver, and even competing in the Olympics! Against a hedgehog, granted, but still, it’s impressive stuff.
Times are tough and jobs are scarce — unless you’re a video game icon. You might know Mario as a portly plumber, but the hardest-working mascot in video games has worn all sorts of hats over his 30-year career. And for our sake, we hope he never retires. Check out some of his coolest jobs.

It turns out that Mother Nature invented the Super Mario Star. Behold the Marginaster sea star, newly discovered off the coast of Tasmania:

A recently discovered species of Marginaster sea star was found living around seamounts in the southern waters off the coast of Tasmania, scientists reported in October 2008.
The seamounts, or underwater mountains, can sprawl 15.6 miles (25 kilometers) wide and rise thousands of feet from the seabed.
In the deep sea, where the ocean bottom is nothing more than muddy sediment, rocky seamounts offer a stable habitat that provides shelter and food for sea life.
