Chocolate Kitchen

Geneva chef Alain Roby once built a 20 foot high chocolate skyscraper. He has now constructed a life-sized chocolate replica of his own kitchen made from more than 2,000 pounds of donated chocolate and sugar to raise awareness and money to combat heart disease. His young son, Jonathan, was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect and this led Roby to become involved with the Saving Tiny Hearts Society.

Roby said that after he is finished with his all-chocolate kitchen project, he is sure he’ll have another extreme chocolate challenge to tackle.
“It’s in my blood,” he said. “I don’t have blood. I have chocolate running through my veins.”

German designer Christoph Thetard designed a versatile kitchen appliance that uses no electricity, because it’s powered by the chef’s foot! The R2B2 has three attachments: a chopper, blender, and grinder that all connect to a rotary gear powered by a flywheel contained in the cabinet. Why buy a new gadget or chemical when something you have in the kitchen will do just as well? Lifehacker listed ten of their favorite kitchen repurposing tricks. For example, I get plenty of Kool-Aid splashed in the dishwasher, but I didn’t know the lemon flavor (without the sugar) can be a cleaning agent.

It kind of makes one concerned about the thought of actually drinking something like Kool-Aid lemonade, but the citric acid in one drink packet is enough to clean the lime stains and calcium deposits that build up over time in the dishwasher.
