Because that’s what we’re all looking for, right? Christina Bloom is the founder of FindYourFacemate.com, which will open for business later this month. She says that she was inspired to build the website after people kept telling her that she and her ex-husband look a lot alike. So this website will use facial mapping software to match you up with someone like you:

Findyourfacemate.com is powered by facial-recognition technology developed by Face.com, which zeros in on nine points on each face—the eyes, ears, nose, chin, and the corners and center of the mouth—to find similarities.[...]

In a 1989 study published in the Journal of Social and Personal Relationships, male and female “raters” were asked to judge the faces of 60 couples (some real, some strangers included as a control) on a nine-point scale, where 1 represented no similarity and 9 indicated the hypothetical case of opposite-sex twins. The average score for non-couples was 3.52; among actual couples, the average was 4.05. Concluded the study: “The results suggest that the observation of facial resemblance among couples appears to reflect a real phenomenon.”

It’s now celebrating its first marital engagement:

Mr Clifford, 36, a carpet fitter who has a ”face that makes children cry”, said: ”I’ve been a joke to women for years because of the way I look.

”I always thought that I was too ugly to meet Mrs Right but my life changed when I met Janine.

”She’s beautiful and I love her in every possible way. I still can’t believe this is happening.”[...]

Miss Walker, a shop assistant who lives with her parents, agreed.

”The rest, as they say, is history,” she said.

“I appreciate that Tom isn’t Brad Pitt, but then I’m no Angelina Jolie either.

“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and to me Tom’s the perfect, handsome prince.”

She added: “I’m just so pleased to have been able to meet him, and I’m head-over-heels in love.”

But what about the ladies? Fulfilling an obviously under-served niche is this fantastic website, Mail Order Husbands.

This one to the left is "Steven"

I’m definitely a classic romantic. I like a candlelight dinner, some quiet background music, and a couple hits of ether. I prefer a woman that has insurance and a car would be great as I need to make the occassional trip to Mexico to pick up "souvenirs".

I’m sure this is the foremost questions your mind:

Q: What does it cost the parties involved?

Art: It all depends on the demand. We have an excellent variety of quality bachelors, and the highest demand is for men around 30 years old with lots of hair. For example if you want to order a 52 year old bald man who has bad psioriasis, well then maybe $600.. but say we had a candidate that looked like a young Erik Estrada, well that kind of product doesn’t last long, we typically charge around $9,000.
