This adorable little critter is the newest addition to the Rosamond Gifford Zoo in New York. But it has a problem -the chick (whose gender remains unknown as of yet) still doesn’t have a name. That’s where you come in. You can submit two names, one for each gender and Spanish names are preferred. The zoo staff will narrow the selections down to five finalists and the public will get to vote on the official name. As for prizes:

The winner will receive a VIP tour of the zoo and will become the adoptive parent of the named chick for one year.

Life is hard as a cute little panda who just doesn’t want to be stuck in its crib.

When big storms hit the coast, adult seals can swim through the rough seas, but little guys often end up abandoned on the beach. Fortunately, the RSPCA is there to help treat them and care for them until the cool weather recedes. New Year’s babies are considered to be good luck, but when you’re as adorable as these baby leopard tortoises, you certainly don’t need to worry about luck. These little cuties were born at the Zoo Pragu, three on New Year’s Eve and three after midnight on New Year’s Day. While they’re tiny enough to fit all six in one woman’s hand right now, they won’t be for long…these guys will grow to up to 120 pounds each. At least their keepers will have plenty of photos to remember them in their infancy.

How could anyone resist that adorable face? Luckily the Wilhelma Zoo in Germany can’t because they agreed to take in little Tano here after his inexperienced mother showed that she was unable to take care of the little cutie:

While at Zoo Prague, keepers rushed him to an incubator because without the body warmth of Bikira, he would not have survived. Attempts were made to return him to his mother’s arms. Sadly, these were unsuccessful. In order to ensure the infant’s survival, hand-rearing was the only option.

As it turns out, Tano’s mommy and grandparents were raised at the Wilhelma Zoo, so he’ll at least be following family tradition by growing up there.

Back in September, Alex introduced you all to Nafanya, the ginger seal pup that was abandoned by her mother. If you were worried about the little cutie, then you’ll be happy to hear that she’s doing just fine these days. She’s residing at the Akvatoria dolphinarium and is already a huge hit with the crowds even though she still hasn’t been released to hang out with the other seals since she is under a one month quarantine. If you want to keep up with her progress, you can watch her web cam here.
