A young wolf cub puppy hears and returns the call of the wild. How can one pup be so gosh-darned adorable? -via I Am Bored
Wildlife photographer Jean-Francois Largot took a fascinating sequence of photographs of a lion cub rescue in Kenya’s Masai Mara game reserve. The cub apparently slid part of the way down a cliff face.
Clinging on for dear life to the side of a vertical cliff, the tiny lion cub cries out pitifully for help.
His mother arrives at the edge of the precipice with three other lionesses and a male. The females start to clamber down together but turn back daunted by the sheer drop.
Eventually one single factor determines which of them will risk her life to save the youngster – motherly love.

Three-month old Evita the ocelot was born in January at Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle. She was introduced to zoo visitors for the first time yesterday. See more pictures at the zoo blog. Link -via Urlesque
A new cougar was born at the Oregon Zoo in Portland on September 19th. The cub and her mom Chinook are in seclusion, but you can see a video at the Seattle Post-Intelligencer blog. Link -via Fark

The Tama Zoo in Tokyo has unveiled their new snow leopard cub named Yukichi. The male cub was born on July 2nd. He is the fourth cub born to his mother Yuki and the first for his father Valdemar. And he’s adorable! Link
The folks at Eden TV, a new UK-based natural history television network, celebrated its launch by building a 16-foot-tall of a polar bear and cub stranded on an iceberg. The sculpture was then set free to float down the Thames in an attempt to bring attention to the new network and to raise awareness about the polar bear’s dwindling habitat.
