Did you ever wish you could create the chocolate of your dreams? A German company named chocri allows people like you and me to customize chocolate bars, not only by determining which name is printed on the packaging, but more importantly by combining a base chocolate (dark, milk or white) with your choice of more than 90 toppings. The toppings can be dried fruit and nuts (what we would expect), but can also be crazy, like chive rolls, jalapenos or real gold flakes. The chocolate is fair trade, organic, and sales benefit kids on the Ivory Coast.

One percentage of our revenues goes directly to the organization DIV Kinder, which supports and protects children on the Ivory Coast. The Ivory Coast is the biggest exporter of cocoa beans on this planet. Our customers also get a chance to donate a small amount at checkout. Together, we’ve already raised thousands of Euros to benefit the children.

Chocri is expanding their sales into the United States beginning in January. Link

Each inhaler contains about 200 milligrams of chocolate powder, less than 1 calorie of chocolate, with four puffs per container.

To use, you place the device between your lips and inhale and the particles land on your tongue and the sides of your mouth, where you can taste them best. When you eat a chocolate bar, in contrast, much of the chocolate passes quickly through your mouth without spending much time on your taste buds. Le Whif allows you to inhale and savor. It comes in chocolate, chocolate mint and chocolate raspberry.

In 2005, pastry chef Jean-Philippe Maury created this enormous 25-tiered chocolate fountain for the Bellagio hotel and casino in Las Vegas. It’s 27 feet tall and circulates 120 quarts of chocolate per minute:

It wasn’t, you see, quite as simple as constructing a waterfall.

“Water doesn’t change,” Maury said. “Chocolate is complicated.”

It must be at the proper temperature to flow properly, for starters. Then there’s the issue of the chocolate’s viscosity, which affects the flow. And the viscosity of chocolate changes with every little bit of moisture in the air.

“The envy of chocolate is humidity,” Maury said. With an increase in the humidity, cocoa butter and coconut oil must be added to the 2,100 pounds of chocolate in the tank. Maury takes viscosity readings every two or three days.

The 25 glass vessels from which the chocolate flows are each unique, and each handmade in Montreal. Maury and Oliver tested the system there for seven months.

I’m one that loves them, but I like to cut a little slit in the package and let them get stale for a few days. Mmm, crunchy Peeps. For those of you that like a pure shot of sugar in the shape of a chick, here’s a way to step up the game: chocolate. Craftster user notyourstar has a good tutorial on how to do it. Seems self-explanatory, but she has a few good tips (freeze your Peeps first, otherwise they will melt when they hit the hot chocolate).

‘Course, you could always just buy them.

Last year, Cadbury held a contest for fans to submit videos of the delicious chocolatey goodness going splat. They called it their “Here today, goo tomorrow” campaign, and some of them are pretty awesome. Check out this Rube Goldberg contraption – it’s really complicated. My favorite part is the Smashing Creme Eggs band.

It’s an Oreo cupcake with Oreo frosting, topped with home-made Oreos and served with a glass of milk built inside. This ingenious dessert marvel is made possible with the help of those delightful chocolate liqour cups. I totally want to make these myself, if you do as well, let me know how they turn out.

If I put my money in a machine and a person popped up to give me my candy, I’m quite sure I’d leave my money and the candy and run as fast as my legs could carry me. These people seem delighted, though, so maybe it’s just me. If you think like I do, don’t worry – these Kit Kat Human Vending Machines aren’t a new fad; they’re just part of a Nestle advertising campaign.
