The Gift Queen Elizabeth Gives All Of Her Employees Every Christmas

Queen Elizabeth is not only the current British monarch- she's an employer, a boss lady if you will, and like all bosses she likes to give her employees a little something extra for Christmas each year.

But the Queen doesn't give her employees a sweater or a royal badge of appreciation, she gives all 1,500 of her employees the same thing- some special Christmas pudding:

"About 1500 Christmas puddings paid for by The Queen (through the Privy Purse) are distributed to staff throughout the Palaces, staff in the Court Post Office and Palace police," the website states. "Each pudding is accompanied by a greeting card from The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh."

As well as being gifted a pudding, those who have worked for the Queen, 91, for a considerable length of time are said to also receive a voucher.

The tradition of giving Christmas pudding dates back to King George V and King George VI, who also gave their employees a pudding at Christmas like a couple of cheapos.

If you ask me a pudding hardly sounds like a royal bonus- maybe the Queen should buy her staffers some scratchcards at Tesco instead?

Rather snarky little piece, Zeon.
Those Christmas puddings are a fairly long standing tradition. They are also paid for out of the Queen's personal account. The staff are also given a gift voucher, the value of which increases with length of service.
And. These "cheapo" gifts are also handed out to the recipients by the Queen herself.

By the way, when you consider the price of the puddings alone, when was the last time your employer spent almost $10,000 dollars out of pocket for you and your co-workers. If he/she spent anything, it was probably out of the company expense account.
