Why Shame Animals When You Can Shame Your Polyhedral Dice?

Dog shaming never made much sense to me, considering dogs can’t read English and therefore have no idea what their master has written on the sign hanging around their neck.

Chicken, guinea pig, baby and cat shaming likewise don’t make much sense for the same reason, but it’s really all about what’s written on the sign, right?

Well now there’s a new form of shaming directed at inanimate objects, in this case polyhedral dice, created by frustrated roleplaying gamers who are tired of bad die rolls ruining a perfectly good campaign:

That’s right folks- Polyhedral Dice Shaming is sweeping the RPG nation, and now we can let those low rolling dice know how we feel about their poor performance:

So, the next time your dice don't live up to your expectations, take those low rolling suckers out of play and write up a die shaming diatribe of your own!

Personally I don't see why you struggle with the point of these shaming memes on the basis you name. It's not about the dog (or the dice) being able to understand the message written on the sign: it's a joke, pure and simple, and DUH, obviously the animal (or object) being shamed isn't the target audience. It's just a form of socializing through commiseration: other dog owners/dice rollers will get the message, and be able to share their own stories, and a good laugh, and life goes on. What's the big mystery for you to get?

I had a friend who "worked" dice punishment into the game by placing his d20 in a bag full of crappy d6 and beating them mercilessly against the kitchen counter. The d20 never seemed to learn its lesson though, and now that I think about it maybe that guy just had some serious anger issues...

I (or my character) decided to cook a meal for a guest. I botched my cooking skill roll, making the NPC sick. So I tried to help him and rolled my first aid skill. I botched that, too, killing the man.

My character was a professional cook who accidentally killed a useful NPC with food.

I should have thrown away those d10s.
