Earth Cake with Rock Candy Core

This Tuesday, April 22, is Earth Day. To mark the occasion, Beth Klosterboer made a spherical cake. She used 2 hemispheric pans to form the body of the cake, then hollowed out the core. She frosted blue icing around the outside and then filled the core with rock candy. After assembling the components, she then used green frosting to show the continents.

It's not only beautiful, but a masterpiece of cake craftsmanship. You can see step-by-step photos of her build process here.

This is awful. It treats women as if they are not smart enough to know that they are pregnant before going to a bar. If a woman is truly concerned about this, she will likely have already taken the precaution of a pregnancy test before going out with her buddies. All this does is make a political statement, demean women, and set us one more step away from outlawing women's rights to drink at all.
