Friendly Sea Sponge

Mauricio Handler photographed this sponge off the coast of Curaçao in the Caribbean. Some people think that it looks like Cookie Monster, but I agree with Joe Hanson, a Ph.D.-holding biologist: it's one of the Martians from Sesame Street.

Reminds me on the Muppet song, Do do, do do do, ma-na ma-na, do do do do, ma-na ma-na, do do, do do do do. Anybody know what I'm talking about or do I just sound like the town loony?

The photos don't show it, but there must have been some kind of strap to keep his head from flying off after his body stopped moving forward. The researchers found out a head-strap is needed after a previous test using a bear.
