Deer Patiently Waits at Crosswalk for the Traffic Signal

(Photos: Kaigai no Omira)

The deer in Nara Park in Nara, Japan are famously polite. They even bow to visitors respectfully. They also obey the law. A tourist snapped photos of this deer, which approached the crosswalk. It stopped until the signal turned green, then crossed. You can see more photos of it at the link.

There are lots of deer in the neighborhood I live in (rural). I once put some deer calls on my cellphone for fun and played them to a deer out in my yard. Y'know... to strike up a convo. No reaction at all till I got to the "fawn distress call" and that deer swivelled right around and started a jog towards me. She was ready to kick my ass. She was piiiiisssssed. I turned off the noise and started making some lame attempts at noise myself to show the deer it was just me, and she realized it was fake and turned around again (albiet with suspicious back glances occasionally). Never play the baby distress call to a deer unless you want a dainty hoof smackdown. NEVER. You've been warned.

According to dictionary.com, the 3rd definition of impersonate is: "to act or play the part of; personate."

But I was with you at first, since it more commonly means to "assume the character" or "mimic the voice of someone" for the purpose of entertainment (or for evil).

There's another interview with her. It seems kind of jerky to refuse to record an answering machine message for him, but I'm sure they're under strict orders to protect the characters and Simpson's brand.

She's not just any Scientologist, she's one of the super-duper thetan ones. She gave $10 million to them last year. What a nut. How those crooks manage to bamboozle people is beyond me.

They only need to bamboozle a few dumb rich ones, and a whole lotta lonely, impressionable people who think they're smarter than they actually are.
