Life inside a Time Capsule

In 1964, Lina Diacono furnished and decorated her new home in Sydney, Australia. She liked her work and decided to keep it. For forty-eight years, she’s kept all of the original furniture and appliances — and in excellent condition. Touring her house is like visiting a Mad Men set. At the link, you can find a photo gallery, as well as a neat feature that layers old photographs of the home with new ones taken from the same perspective.

A girlfriend bought a “modern” house built in the Sixties. Kept it original and all of the built-ins and living room furnishings. Forget madmen, it could have been the backdrop for a James Bond movie.

I buy houses and rehab them and sell them.. I see a lot of this stuff with every house.. Many people do not do updates.. My last house came with a 1958 dishwasher, which still worked. I sold it to a gentleman who rebuilds appliances. He was thrilled to have it. My current home was purchased with original 1970′s shag carpeting throughout, and I got the comb that helps make vacuuming easier!
