Leg Hair Font

By Miss Cellania in Advertising, Design on Nov 8, 2011 at 7:35 am

A student at Tama Art University in Japan named Mayuko created a western font composed of leg hair (presumably not her own). It’s not the easiest to read, but may well go down in typographical records as the strangest -at least the strangest font to actually be used commercially! Shown here is a Adidas ad using the leg hair font. Link -via Smart Stop

A so often made mistake, which has resulted in general acceptance, is that you are referring to the typeface, not the font.

Typeface is the shape/form/design of the characters, a font is merely the agent which makes printing of the typeface possible.

In digital what we call the file format, in (old school) printing, those steel blocks with the raised and mirrored character (an actual font!).

Check out http://www.aiga.org/theyre-not-fonts/ for further explanation.

I didn’t think about it; I just used the term from the linked article.

Haha, I totally understand. I hope you didn’t take it too personal. I placed the comment also so others will realize the fact of the matter :)

Oh, one doesn’t survive five years at Neatorama by taking anything personally!
