Lucky Charms Sifter Gets Rid of All of that Unnecessary Cereal

By John Farrier in Food & Drink, Living on Oct 24, 2011 at 6:01 pm

Since 1964, General Mills has sold Lucky Charms cereal, padding the weight with toasted oat bits. Why? No idea. All they do is get in the way of the marshmallows, which contain all of the good luck (toasted oats are not good luck). Thankfully, Tom Lombardi warmed up his 3d printer and came up with this sieve to solve that problem.

I absolutely love Lucky Charms but only very few places in the entire UK have them and they charge a ridiculous £8, which is almost $13, for a pack (plus delivery, as none is close to my town), so I can never have them. Most supermarkets in UK started stocking them a few years ago but they all seemed to stop selling them after a very short time. Probably some nonsense about it not being good to give kids sweet marshmallows and high salt cereal, though no one bothers about chocolate cereals here.

I miss them and crave them.

This is why I eat Count Chocula instead.

Yeah, I’m weird, but I like the toasted oat bits better than the marshmallows.

You can buy bulk cereal marshmallows alone and spare yourself the trouble, too.

Or perhaps cut out the middle man and go for the sugar aerosols?

Oooh, send me the cereal bits and you can keep the marshmallows!

    What’s the fun in that?
When I was younger, my mom told me that when I finished breakfast, I’d have to go to the grocery store with her.
So, I took my sweet time about not only separating the cereal bits from the marshmallows, but sorting the marshmallows by shape. Without milk, they kind of squeak when you bite them.
Laking a sense of creativity, humor, and organization, mom never bought another box of Lucky Charms again…

@Larfin — great idea! Onward, the march of progress!
