This project is a collaborative effort by Thomas voor ‘t Hekke and Bas van Oerle who work together as ‘Helden’. Birds with camera heads were placed around the city of Utrecht in the Netherlands to raise awareness of privacy issues in modern urban life.

‘panoptICONS’ addresses the fact that you are constantly being watched by surveillance cameras in city centres. The surveillance camera seems to have become a real pest that feeds on our privacy.
