Ambigrammatic Tattoo

By John Farrier in Body Modifications on Jun 27, 2010 at 4:53 pm

An ambigram is a word that can be read from a different orientation. Typographer John Langdon designed this tattoo that says “art & science” from one direction and “philosophy” upside-down.

I’ve admired Langdon’s work since Dan Brown used them in Angels & Demons (naming the main character after him in thanks). He always manages to get ambigrams that are clearly legible, which it the most important thing. Other ambigrams you might stumble onto on the web are often difficult to make out.

Ah yes…Michael Langdon was named in honour of this man.
