Plates That Tell You How To Eat

By The Nag in Home & Garden on Jun 22, 2010 at 5:17 pm

Designers Rui Pereira and Hafsteinn Juliusson, have created a collection of dining plates for HAF, that reminds us of the fundamental values of healthy eating.

You already have parents and/or kids telling you how to eat healthy. Now there are dishes that will nag you too?

The first thing you can do to cut down on your calories is buy smaller dishes. We just got a brand new set of dishes and while the plates merely big, the cereal bowls are enormous – larger than some of our serving dishes!

My grandmother had a set of dishes that she’d been using since the ’60s. The cereal bowl would fit comfortably in the palm of your hand. It would hold 1 serving (by the nutrition info on the cereal box – about 1 cup). Our new cereal bowls can hold the entire contents of the cereal box.

    Think about it.

I can’t eat that much keylime pie. Even the raspberry is quite a chunk here.

Ted, you are a bit ruder than I would be, but expressed pretty much the same sentiment.

You’re right, Steve. I bought a set of antique dishes that are quite small Unfortunately I sometimes fill my plate up more than once, defeating the purpose.

And my mother was always nagging us at dinnertime about standing on the table to take a photo.

The most important rule: if it makes you feel good (that includes your health), then keep eating until you’re comfortably full. (because if you keep eating until you’re not comfortable, then you’ve broken the most important rule, right? )

Question: Does your food have to be triangular in shape? That would pretty much limit things right off the bat!

Don’t underestimate how rude you can be, Edward.

I thought maybe I was a little harsh after I posted it, but look at them…
