Classic Door Prank

By Johnny Cat in Funny, Video Clips on Nov 30, 2009 at 1:34 pm

It always bugs me when I see someone press on the glass portion of a door to open it (this is probably due to years in a job that required my cleaning such doors), so this footage from sometime in the 20th century is like justice.  via YepYep

Years ago I saw a college kid run at a glass door and put his arms right through the glass. Was a big, bloody mess. But this is funny.

Lol funny video. I admit, I'm a glass pusher. I do it mainly in the winter when the air is dry. Don't like getting shocked constantly when I touch metal or look like an idiot tapping a metal handle or whatever to see if it's going to shock me.

Ok this could never happen to me. When I was in school there were no glass exterior doors and the wooden doors weighed about 100 pounds and were locked until you pushed the handle. Add to that I'm paranoid about breaking glass. Funny video. :p

I'm a glass pusher too, partly because of static discharge but also because of germs, even though the likelihood of germs surviving on metal probably isn't great, but I could be seconds behind someone who just sneezed into his hand before touching the handle. However, I usually use my forearm or elbow to push it open, so no dirty handprints on the glass :D . After all, the last person to glass push might also have just sneezed into his hand...

Ooooo, no glass pushing here! All it took was for me to see a glass door get broken one time when I was a kid and I figured out real quick it was a bad thing to do.

That's the same reason why you'll never see a glass-topped table in my house either!

I witnessed a great example of why pushing the glass is a bad idea. My 5-year-old cousin had a habit of running out of the house at full speed, holding his hand at arm's length to push the glass door open. This worked okay -- the latch was broken so the door swung freely.

Then my uncle fixed the latch, sat the boy down, and very slowly, carefully explained to him that wouldn't work any more. (In one ear; out the other.) About five minutes later -- CRASH!!! Glass everywhere. It's amazing the boy wasn't hurt.

At night, I ran into my friend's patio glass but didn't break it. It did hurt my nose and made it unhappy!

That really WAS very funny. Ask anyone that has had to wash window even though it isn't their job to.

I've never had to wash windows, but glass-pushing always bothered me just the same (because of empathy for people who had to do it). As for germs, I usually avoid using my hands too (elbow, etc) or a fist at least instead of an open hand.

Also, I like how its from 'the 20th century' to explain the black&white. We were in the 20th century less than 10 years ago. :P
