Donald Duck Transformer

By John Farrier in Toys on Oct 5, 2009 at 3:21 pm

Andrew Dobrow of GearFuse worries that we could see more monstrosities like this if Disney buys Hasbro as well as Marvel Comics. The “Donald Duck Holiday Vehicle” is on sale (but backordered) from the Japanese company Takara Tomy for about $40. Most worrisome of all — it bears neither the Autobot nor Decepticon icon.

There’s a Mickey one too! It transforms into a truck, a la Optimus Prime. (Donald’s yellow Beetle is a bit of a Bumblebee homage.)

This is the new generation, known as a “Duckacon,” this subgroup branched off of the “Disneyanabots.”

I wouldn’t call it a monstrosity, I actually think this is kind of cool. I especially like the way Donald is driving a huge version of himself.

I actually own the Mickey/Optimus Prime toy and it’s fantastic. However, that one works a bit better than this one as far as design goes.
