Kaitlin at Whisk Kid made this cake as a treat for the eye as well as the palate! The recipe is posted with the warning that you will need more frosting than you think. Link -via Digg

Who cares about the rainbow, look at all that frosting!
    I hope it's butter cream.

Okay...it's pretty, but is it delicious ? I doubt it, reading the recipe, it just seems very basic.

Right, you can admire the feat, it's even a kind of trend to cook nice looking cakes, nowadays. But I would really prefer the opposite for my birthday: a plain looking cake, but with elaborate and rich taste and texture. Real pastry and not just fancy coloured sweet stuff (food colouring is a weapon of deception and should be BANNED).

    The cake is a lie.

While the color sequence is correct as far as it goes... I seem to remember a fellow named Roy G. Biv and he told me that the sequence is incomplete.

Why will you think after needing more frosting?

Oh... you meant "you will need more frosting THAN you think". Got it.

Make the orange section twice as thick and it would function well as a terror alert chart. We're still on ORANGE, people! The threat level is HIGH. Enjoy your damn cake, the terrorists have won.

Actually, Patrick Parker, from what I know, as of late, Indigo has been removed (Or at least disregarded) from the rainbow, because it's too small.

Honestly, the negative and snide comments on here are just plain petty...why can people not just compliment the creator of the cake rather than come up with stupid things to say (Hum & Patrick Parker to name a few)...who cares if it's not to "scale"...and yes, Indigo was disregarded (who really cares anyway!). It's a very pretty presentation and that was THE POINT.

And have you tasted this particular cake, Hum? If you have to slam a cake about how it tastes and have never even tasted it, I say that makes you pretty pathetic. It may taste wonderful or it may taste awful, regardless you have NO IDEA one way or the other!
