Kelly Hildebrandt and Kelly Hildebrandt

Posted by Miss Cellania in Odd News on July 19, 2009 at 9:35 am

You are cordially invited to the wedding of Kelly Hildebrandt and Kelly Hildebrandt? You may not be personally invited, but it’s true that the two Kelly Hildebrandts are getting married. The female Hildebrandt is from Florida, and she fell in love with a guy in Texas with the same name!

“I was like, ‘I wonder if there’s any other Kelly Hildebrandts on Facebook’,” she explained. “So, I searched my own name and he’s the only one that came up. And actually, in the picture, he didn’t have his shirt on, and I’m like, ‘oh, he’s cute!’”

And the Kelly in Texas was also intrigued.

“She started off, ‘hey, I see we have the same name, and I thought it was kinda cool, so I wanted to say hi, I guess’. Lots of laughs,” he said.

Three weeks after their first online encounter, Kelly, the boy from Texas, decided to fly to south Florida, and see Kelly, the girl, in person.

The two will be wed in October. Link -via YesButNoButYes

Im all for same-name civil unions but I do not think they should be allowed to get married.

I'm fine with it as long as they name their kid(s) Kelly as well.

Only a local news team would expand 'lol' into 'lots of laughs'.

Some things only work one way.

Girls with guys name = hot.

Guys with girls name = not.

Calling their house must be fun for telemarketers.

I wonder if the bride will take the groom's surname, or will it be the other way around?

You ever heard of Johnny Cash? '...you'd have to get tough or die' and I'm still livin'. I said 'lots of laughs'...thats the translation told to me when I was younger and I've never been able to break the habit! I can't wait to jack with telemarketers!

I'm friends with a few of the people on facebook with the same name as me.. it may be handy if one of us becomes imfamous, we won't be taken for a loop when out name is being maligned by the media.

Wasn't the assimilation of all 'Kelly Hildebrandt's into one mega Kelly Hildebrandt one of the signs of the apocolypse?

Confusing for sure, but sweet if they can make it work.

This one is getting a lot of good jokes. That last name doesn't seem that common....are they SURE they're not related??? There has to be some crossover somewhere along the tree.

I agree with star4578 : after a quick research : less than 50 Hildebrandt in France, less than 100 Hildebrandt in UK, less than 7200 in the States.
    Germans or... Kissin'cousins? ;)

The conincidence is quite cool. But if their parents are all alive, they should ask key questions before making babies. One question like: "Dad did you happen to sow wild oat in Texas/Florida? will just br ok.

Otherwise, they are not the only couple with such cool coincidence. My wife and I share the same birth date (May 13) and we did not know until six months into our relationship.

I have been looking for the highway into the Guiness Book of Records. Any ideas/

What? You didn't know each other's birth date until 6 months into your relationship? Why? :)

@ Me Two... She is actually going to do the feminist hyphenate... Kelly Hildebrandt-Hildebrandt.

Freud would have a field day analyzing what they mean when one of them yells out "Kelly!" when they're having sex.

I did the same Facebook thing and connected with another guy with my exact same name - first middle and last. We had so little in common that he eventually defriended me, which was perfectly fine. He was a Republican football player (and I'm a pagan broadcast tech).

    Luckily it wasn't love!

Like, um, duh...It's called a social networking site for a reason. Shortly after I joined, I facebooked my own name and found I have a "twin"-- and we're having a fun time of it. Our story isn't news-worthy but we're now cyber-friends and we do have more than just our name in common, including our observances of the lowered American IQ, as indicated with some of the above comments.

I know Kelly guy and his family personally. They are awesome Christian people. The two Kellys' are not related. Kelly guy is a solid young man with his head on straight. Every young girl should be so lucky and blessed to find such a great gyy. Hopefully, both of them will be able to disregard all of the undeserving negative comments. If you can't say something nice or supportive please don't say anything at all.
