15 Vintage Household Ads

Kitch and nostalgia abound. Definitely got a kick looking at these! Favorite? "Weighting only 8 lbs" to describe the portable TV of the future.

Household chores may never feel effortless, but appliances that make our day-to-day lives easier have definitely come a long way over the decades. Take a fun look back at vintage ads that tout then-innovative inventions, such as the gas range, electric broom, portable television and more!

I get a kick out of what is in the freeze of the side-by-side refridgerator. An uncovered cake? Bananas?

I still have a portable dishwasher, like the one in the ad, that I inherited from my Mom. It still works like a charm, even though its white and not harvest gold.

What a coincidence! "Surgomatic" was my nickname in high school!

The truly shocking thing is the clothes shaver. That looks like a man's hand operating it, due to the lack of otherwise obligatory red nail polish. Who on earth ever thought a MAN could do something around the house? Crazy!

Me too. Love, love, love those ads from a much more optimistic era...

I have two of those wringer washers in the basement of the 1952 house I just bought. Anyone want em? They weight about 200 pounds.
