   Clearly neither The Sun or the BBC bothered to do any real research into Plato's description. Atlantis is supposed to be a series of hierarchical, terraced spheres, so a rectangular grid is completely at odds with the ancient description.

   Atlantis "image" was sonar data it seems.

   "Google spokeswoman said the grid lines on the image, which the original British viewer described as resembling a "man-made aerial map," were caused by thin bands of sonar data collected by boats while mapping the bottom of the ocean, The Daily Mail reported."

   Too late to the party. The report is that that area is not well scanned. The individual lines consist of more accurate depth measurements provided by ships that sail in a straight line in that area. Or so THEY want us to think!

   Look at the scale of this thing compared to, say, the nation of Spain. It's "man-made" all right, meaning it's an artifact of the mapping process. But it's way too big to even contemplate it being a city.

    I dont think it's Atlantis, but why would it being 'sonar mapping data' be disproof? Isn't sonar data how one WOULD map what is underwater?

    It's not the least bit ridiculous to think that there are parts of the planet now underwater that used to have civilizations living on them. Waters recede and vice versa. Our earliest texts reference earlier high civilizations that existed before a major flood.

    God this is a crappy article of something that has been thoroughly debunked. Every silly email forward is now being posted. Any quality this site once had has been so thoroughly diluted by the queue that it is no longer worth wading through.

    A similar thing can be seen around 200 miles off the coast of Californis from Point Reyes in the north to below San Diego. What's the plural of Atlantis, Atlantii???

    Son of a bitch...does this mean the little mermaid was real?
    When I first saw the picture of Atlantis discovery, it reminded me of satellite imagery on Mars. It also brings up the conspiracy that there may have been earlier human settlement than we've known about over recorded history. Possibly, Atlantis was a continent that consist of alien life or just a lost ancient civilization of ordinary humans. There is a lot of mystery in this world and just one piece of evidence(such as atlantis city traces) can answer the many questions we have as a growing people.
