Ten Amazing Waterfalls in the U.S.

By Queuebot in Travel on Feb 15, 2009 at 9:24 am

Waterfalls are such a powerful source that provide such a sense of serenity when looking at them.  There are so many incredible waterfalls all over the world, but here are just a few located in the United States. Pictured is Lower Falls of the Yellowstone River in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming.

At 308 feet high, these falls are almost twice as high as Niagara and have the largest volume of water in the Rocky Mountains. Within Yellowstone National Park, a one-way loop drive takes you to the brink of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, offering four different views of the Lower Falls and access to a trail that leads to the top.

Tennessee is a nice place to visit for waterfalls. I heard that there are over 200 of them. The most famous is probably Fall Creek Falls and I can’t believe it didn’t make it in this list.

Wow, the two nearest me made the list. Snoqualmie Falls has a hotel right next to it, and the atmosphere is amazing. Multnomah Falls has, as seen in the photo, a bridge you can hike to and just be at one with the water. Another steep hike and you’re on top of the falls.

I guess Hawaii was excluded from this list, probably because 90% of their water falls are better than these.

You edited together two paragraphs from two separate waterfalls. The note about the bridge and the falls freezing is about Multnomah Falls, in the Columbia River Gorge.

Crabtree Falls in Virginia are the tallest falls east of the Misissippi. You cannot see all of it from any one vantage point, but you can follow a trail either from the top or bottom and stop at dozens of vantage points along this series of falls in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
