The Human Washing Machine

By Alex in Gadget on Feb 10, 2009 at 3:47 am

In 1970, consumer electronics maker Sanyo wanted to improve your daily ablutions. It came up with this: the Ultrasonic Bath AKA the Human Washing Machine.

If it had better accesibility, it would be fantastic for elderly people who needs help to take baths.
And it also can be a good water saver, generally speaking (I know some people who spend about 45 min. in the shower everyday!).

Wouldn't be surprised if this isn't rehashed soon, sounds like a cool concept, especially for those who don't have access to bathroom facilities.

That actually looks neat, except, how do you wash your hair?

I'd imagine that the amount of room it takes up can be greatly reduced with current technology. I mean, the size of that basin the woman is sitting in is not feasible for the amount of living space in most Japanese homes... unless there’s a toilet included in that device too.

It does seem a very long way off the ground.

    That is pretty neat.
I wonder if can double as a clothes washer?

Man, I would so love that thing! Gimme a glass of iced tea with a straw and I'm good!
