Space Battleship Yamato

By Alex in Lego, Movies & SciFi, Pictures on Feb 8, 2009 at 1:43 am

Oh, I fondly remember watching the anime Space Battleship Yamato
as a little kid, so it’s a neat treat to find this replica of the Yamato (or Argo in the American dub of the series, retitled Star Blazers) made with LEGO by Vincent Cheung: Link – via The Brothers Brick

Wow! I fondly remember building space battleship Yamato models out of lego when I was a kid, but mine never looked half as good as this!

Seriously, why would they build a ship that looked like a boat? Did they ever land it in water?

It is based off a real battleship that was used in WWII. The looks are almost identical.

@ted: 1) because it's fricken cool 2) As I remember, they built it from a derelict seagoing battleship that was abandoned to hide the fact that it was going to be a space-going battleship. 3)Watch the goddamn series.

Yep. Very cool. I was going to mention that I dont see any way to do the Wave Motion Gun with Legos. It's hard to make a hole. First anime series I saw as a kid late 70's early 80's. I'm 33 now.
