Times Square Hotel is Dirtiest in Nation

The dirtiest hotel in America?  According to millions of voters and reviewers, that distinction goes to the Carter Hotel in Times Square, New York city.  Everything from rats and mysterious stains to dead bodies under the bed have earned this one star hotel this unique distinction.

"Hey, maybe Times Square isn’t so Disneyfied after all; millions of travelers on Trip Advisor have voted Hotel Carter on West 43rd Street the #1 filthiest place to stay in America. Comments on Trip Advisor range from revolting ("I don’t know where to begin… Roaches, rats, mice, horrible smells, dirty sheets, horrifying bathrooms, outlets that hang out of walls… But the worst part about it was that at 4 a.m. I woke up to a bunch of guys breaking into our hotel room while we were sleeping!!") to panicked ("It’s like a HORROR movie in real life, it’s so bad that its just not for real. Barack Obama, please shut it down!").

Hotel Carter’s manager tells NY1 that because they are a one star hotel, they have one star standards of cleanliness. But we’re pretty sure even a one star hotel shouldn’t be charging $130 for rooms that come with a dead body under the bed."

$130 a night for a room in New Yawk is a bonus. Normally the dead bodies cost extra.

I can probably live with the dead mice, but the bed bugs? Uggh! They gave me the ooies.

I stayed there once a number of years ago (about 10, I guess) and it was lovely. No really. Is this downfall a recent thing?

$130 for a room in Manhattan may be a bargain, but if you go to the other boroughs, you can get a nice clean room for about that. I’ve done it several times.

I live in Brooklyn and for $130 a night you can get a pretty decent room, not above 2 and a half stars, but at least you wont find any corpses.

It’s sad that not finding a dead body in a room is a plus now a days.

Ugh, reading the reviews for that place and looking at the photos….how on earth is that place even allowed to still be in business?? Wouldn’t that be considered dangerous to someone’s health to stay in something that disgusting?

I stayed at a rotten place in rochester, minn., right across from the famed Mayo Clinic. Maybe the folks checking into that place are too sick to notice.

this is so funny to me. I stayed at this hotel in 2002 for $88/night thinking that at that price it couldn’t be ‘too bad.’ the lobby alone should have alerted me to my mistake. I had a hooker at my door in the middle of the night insisting I had called her (him?) and I should pay up and the shower only produced a very cold trickle of water. also yes on the sheets. that place was dirrrrrty.

butcha know what? I slept like a baby and made my job interview on time, so it was worth it.
