Going to the bathroom doesn't get much simpler than this. Behold the "Simple Toilet," as envisioned by Jessie Neukomm (bag) and Alejandro Bona (shovel) for the University of Art and Design Lausanne (ECAL), Switzerland. http://fdeco.femina.ch/?p=35 [in French] - via Cribcandy, Thanks Justine Dufrenne!

While hiking the Appalachian Trail I used a garden trowel a few hundred times, no leaves though - just real tp!

Normally, though, for the past ten years we have used a sawdust composting toilet that it quite simple. The bucket, a box with a seat and lid, some sawdust, keep it covered and rotting sawdust works best. Compost in a simple bin layering it with straw or grass clippings. I would think that the shovel handle should be shorter to make it easier to use. Also, in some areas (for example, where we live) the soil is so hard that you would need a rounded blade.

It depends on how many hours had passed between when he set them and when he had first discovered the issue. 1 hour? Then the clocks were already 3 minutes apart.

right, but the question was how long had passed between when he set them and when he saw they were an hour apart. Doesn't matter when he discovered the issue - the time between setting them correctly and having them one hour apart is 20 hrs.

That being said, an argument could be made for 260 hrs :)
