Strange Kit Kat Flavors

By Alex in Food & Drink on Dec 6, 2008 at 2:36 pm

It’s obvious that Jon C. of Overoften’s Kumamoto Diary loves Kit Kat. He has what is probably the largest selection of strange Kit Kat flavors on the Web. His Flickr photoset includes pineapple, green tea, melon-flavored snack and many more!

Here are his picks of the strangest Kit Kat ever (soy sauce Kit Kat, no kidding!): Link | Flickr Photoset

Mmm, I wish the more “exotic” flavors were more readily available in the US – I’ve had red bean ones and the green tea ones before and they were -fantastic- … the chocolate orange ones (if they’re still available?) are insanely tasty, too, and even the apple ones weren’t bad …

Bah, we’re being short changed here in the US!

The melon Kit Kats are tasty. I had a few in Japan.

Green Tea Kit-Kats were pretty good (but they used white chocolate) and the Cherry Blossom ones (only for Spring of course) where a bit odd but unique when I visited Japan. Pocky stick flavors were even more insane.

My university convenience store used to bring these in, haven’t been able to find them anywhere else around though :)

The chocolate in Japanese kit kats taste like I remember the chocolate tasting like when I was a kid. North Americans are getting ripped.

Should be easy enough to find in areas with asian immigrants.

Also, there are asian corn nuts out there that beat the tar out of the sodium induced version we’re accustomed too.

Glad you like them, I certainly did!
With regard to Rio’s comment, “North Americans are getting ripped” – your KitKats aren’t made by NestlĂ©, they’re made under licence by Hershey. Can’t say as I’ve too much experience there, but if Hershey’s Kisses are anything to go by, I can understand why you’d prefer Japanese KitKats, Rio!

I had two different varieties of Green Tea Kit Kats in Japan. One had white chocolate on the outside with a green tea filling – it was just ok. The better one had green tea flavored white chocolate on the outside – it was delicious! I wish I could find more of those!
