Love Letters … From a Stranger!

Posted by Alex in Arts & Crafts, Blog & Internet on December 1, 2008 at 8:24 pm

Psst - you’ve got a secret admirer. Well, actually not yet … but you will, if Jake Bronstein of Zoomdoggle has his ways. The always-fun Jake (who came up with ideas-so-wacky-they’re-brilliant like the Fun-O-Meter and randomly thanking customer service reps posted previously on Neatorama) wants to write you a love letter.

All you have to do is give him an address (name optional) and he’ll take care of the rest:

When was the last time you got a love letter? Get ready to reset the counter, cause Zoomdoggle & Co. wants to send you one. Really. Hand written, and one of kind too. Just send an address, name optional, to loveletters at zoomdoggle dot com, or post it in the comments section, then keep an eye on the mailbox. It’s coming. And, if you’re anything like us, you’d be surprised how good it’s going to feel. Even coming from a stranger.

Link - Thanks Jake!

I love that, what a marvelously happy idea =) I’ve submitted my address; here’s hoping!

Wait, you gotta see the video too. We already put the first few hours into writing, and here’s what we came up with…

As long as the addresses left in the comments section aren’t viewable by everyone, sounds like a fun time.

Well, after checking, I guess they are viewable. Check out his sophomore antics on the right column, too.

Is this the modern equivalent of sending yourself flowers on Valentine’s Day?

I sent in my address. This should be interesting, my husbands name is also Jake. It’s nice to pretend!

I worry this guy’s going to get a LOT more response than he’s planning on. There’s a ton of curious people on the internet. He’s going to have a lot of writing to do. And what about the postage? I can see just the stamps alone being crazy expensive.

Here’s an excellent love note from Californication:

Karen. If you’re reading this, it means I actually whipped up the courage to mail it, so good for me. You don’t know me very well but if you get me started, I have a tendency to go on and on about how hard the writing is for me. This, this is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to write. There’s no other easy way to say this, so I’ll just say it. I met someone. It was an accident. I wasn’t looking for it. I wasn’t on the make. It was a perfect storm. She said one thing, I said another. Next thing I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life in the middle of that conversation. Now there’s this feeling in my gut, that she might be the one. She’s completely nuts, in a way that makes me smile. Highly neurotic. A great deal of maintenance required. She is you, Karen. That’s the good news. The bad is that I don’t know how to be with you right now, and it scares the shit out of me. Because I have a feeling that if I’m not with you right now, we’ll get lost out there. It’s a big bad world full of twists and turns and people have a way of blinking and missing the moment. A moment that could have changed everything. I don’t know whats going on with us, and I can’t tell you why you should waste a leap of faith on the likes of me, but damn you smell good, like home and you make excellent coffee. That’s gotta count for something. Call me. -Hank
