This cool building in Osaka, Japan actually has a freeway going through it.

Gotta feel sorry for the folks who have an office cubicle next to the wall that has the freeway running next to it.

crazy! i wonder where the elevators and everything else that usually goes up the middle of a building are...

I agree with Ali S. on this one. I would hate to work right next to the freeway like that unless there was some serious soundproofing going on. That said, it's still pretty efficient and interesting!

It would be cool to have one way glass so you could see all the cars driveing past!

It raises the age old question; which game first, the building or the expressway? Pretty cool.

Yeah... but bulletproof glass, just in case :Þ

(Would bulletproof cristal survive a car crash?)

I seem to remember there being a building Boston with a street running through it too. Can't remember the specifics though.

There's an apartment building sitting right on top of the Harlem River Drive here in NYC. The cars just run right under it.

There's an office building in Austin (Texas, that is) that is built over the street. I always wondered how the folks there could be so calm with huge 18-wheelers rumbling mere inches underneath them!

That is totally like all the drawings of the future I used to look at as a kid.

This looks really strange, but anyhow futuristic. But I never will work in this building, because of the noize that cars and trucks will make. I believe I can't concentrate if there is so much noize.

It just looks like an on/offramp to me. That wouldn't be nearly as bad as say a four lane highway with large trucks constantly rumbling beneath your feet.

It is an offramp. I drove on (through?) it when I was doing some work in Osaka. It is in the Umeda section of the city. Nearby, there are stores in a highway overpass.

Calgary has the same thing happening where they just built a mall/office complex right over the existing street.

Leave it to Japan to come up with something like this...very innovative...
