My elementary school principal had a pretty insane last name. Its spelling evades me, but it was pronounced crap-a-shitz.

My mom used to be a mother-baby nurse, and took care of an immigrant woman who named her daughter Vaseline. I had a great aunt named Iona Boner. And way back in my family tree, there’s Chrystal and Pearly Waters.

I worked with a lady in Miami that was named Guarantha. Her mother got the idea for her name off the back of a potato chip bag because she liked the word “guarantee”. I wish I were making this up.

You might not have to be a celebrity to have weird names, but they sure seem to have some of the weirdest. Actually their real names are sometimes stranger than one’s they are known by. Here’s what I’m talking about … http://babynames.merschat.com/celebrity.cgi, “Aliaune Damala Bouga Time Puru Nacka Lu Lu Lu Badara Akon Thiam”. That’s way too long. Call me conservative, but this helps me understand why most cultures keep just the guy’s last name. Even Audrey Hepburn - Edda Kathleen van Heemstra Hepburn-Ruston. That’s just too much.

My hubby’s co-worker named her son “Cage”. Sorry, but I’m sick of weird names. I love traditional English names! It’s funny because I get so many compliments on my choice of names for my kids! The traditional is truly the unusual. Freaky names sound like they belong on a soap opera; no thanks, I want my kids to have pride in their NORMAL names…

-from the mom of Eddie and Jane (ages 12 and 9).

It was funny my mom and dad couldn’t have kids for a long time in fact 20 years after they were married!!! can you believe it?
but when it was time for the due date for my sister
my dad was like “I’m not coming up with any names, You will be naming them ALL because I don’t want to get blamed if they don’t their names.” hahaha I thought that was pretty funny.

In every person name is very important and sometimes because of our name we can have enemy and friends..your name could lead you to success or failure but whatever it is you cannot erase the name that your parents gave to you.:)..you must accept and give honor about this name:)

  40. Jadzia
    May 18th, 2009 at 5:03 pm

My Name is Jadzia Nerys pronounce Jad-zee-uhh Nur-ees. It comes from the names of two different characters Jadzia Dax and Kira Nerys from the Star Trek series. Yes my dad was a big Star Trek fan, his enthusiasm for it has faded with time but not the love for the name he gave me, and I love it as well!
It’s always fun to see peoples faces when I tell them what my name is, though I am constantly reminding people how to pronounce it, but its unique and I love it! I go by Jaz for short like the music Jazz but with one Z! : D

My fiance’s name is Micheal, which I always thought was a dyslexic way of spelling Michael, maybe the hospital accidentally put the E before the A, but his fathers’ spelt the same way =\ Who knows?
