Now that is an awesome staircase! The creative "floating" stairs are designed by Florence architect Guido Ciompi for The Gray Hotel in Milan, Italy. The Contemporist Blog has more: Link - via stair porn (SFW actually, the blog features a lot of wonderful stairs)

I’ve always wanted a staircase like that. It would make coming home drunk interesting.

Very cool (though I feel like I’m about to fall down just from LOOKING at those things …)

It looks cool, but I bet it’s quite a safety hazard. I think I’d be pretty scared to use it!

I never knew stairs could be so fascinating. I just spent, like, 20 min looking at that site. Some of them are so cool. And the other hand, I’m pretty sure a fair deal of them would lead to my death if I ever tried to use them.

Pretty cool idea. Just don’t try to walk up and down these stairs while drunk.

Imagine how grimy the walls will get after people traipse up and down all day.

There has to be a weight limit for those stairs.

The floating bookshelf (from a few weeks ago? a month? more?) would go well with the stairs :)

they look so flimsy! I’m surprised that they’d hold anyone

It would probably take you a few goes to get accustomed to them, but after a while they’d be just like any other stairs I bet. Any word on if they are spaced normally or not?

@stormie24: It’s probably made of steel that is anchored deep inside the wall. Even a Karate kid will not break it!

The artist in me is thinking cool. The drunk in me is thinking a trip to the ER

Great so when you are walking down the steps at night and the cat is hiding in one of the holes and takes a swipe at your foot you can fall to your death!
