Bizarre and Intriguing Bus Stops

Posted by Miss Cellania in Architecture, Travel & Places on November 10, 2008 at 9:37 am

Check out this large collection of interesting bus stops all over the world, Some have whimsical touches, some are covered with art, some are designed to surprise you, and some are interesting in their decline. The bus stop shown is in Curitiba, Brazil. Passengers pay when entering the bus stop, then go directly from the tube into the bus! Link -Thanks, Jon Jason!

Hmm, that would be quite usefull to prevent issues of people running into eachother when trying to get on or off the bus, and keeps people from trying to sneak on and avoid paying.

The bus stop in Brazil is great for security reasons. I lived there for a while and the stories you hear from about public transportation are horrendous.

I like the whimsy of the watermelon stop. Also thought the loneliest stop in Santiago was funny.

With such system, it is more secure for passenger and they can take how much bus line they want without paying a new ticket. It is really nice.

At first, I thought the writing on the tunnel above said "Oscar Mayer", because the shape is similar to a hot dog.

Curitiba is my home town, and the "tube" keeps rain and the cold out ;)

it's because we have an integrated bus system with the metropolitan region.

So, you only pay one pass and u can go for anywhere in Curitiba or other city that is integrated.

And the "tube" is a easy and fast way to enter in the bus.

This video show the public transport evolution in Curitiba.
