Maze Bookcase by Woodloops
That "maze" bookcase is built by German product designer René Mueller and forester Nina Griesshammer of Woodloops.
Their products are "green" (built out of wood certified by the Forest Stewardship Council) - but even if you don't care about all that, it's still easy to marvel at the craftsmanship and wonderful design.

I really like it, but when I went searching for a price, I discovered that it is actually a CD shelf. Not so great for books. Bummer.

A bookshelf is a shelf for books, not for pretension.

I don't know, it doesn't look like it wastes that much room, and the groove looks wide enough to put a paperback book or two. I bet you would be able to use most of the space for actual book storage.

It's different I'll give it that. But I'm more of the school of thought that books need to be shelved and in great amounts. My kingdom for a home library!
