Man’s Arm Trapped in Train Toilet

By Miss Cellania in Everything Else on Oct 28, 2008 at 10:24 am

A 26-year-old man dropped his phone into a toilet on a French train and reached in to retrieve it. His arm became stuck, and firemen had to rescue him!

The high-speed TGV train had to stop for two hours while firemen cut through the train’s pipework.

The man was carried away by emergency services, with the toilet still attached to his arm.

“He came out on a stretcher, with his hand still jammed in the toilet bowl, which they had to saw clean off,” said Benoit Gigou, a witness to the man’s plight.

This is why you should not carry your phone in your pants pocket. Use a secure clip. Link -Thanks, Christophe!

“Mr. Simpson, this may be a stupid question…but are you just holding on to the can?”

I think he carried his phone in his shirt pocket.

When you bow to reach something your phone always falls from this pocket.

I can imagine that when it push on the flush button the phone felt from the shirt pocket not the pants pocket.

Still a good reason to use a clip or some kind of secure holder. Mine is in a container that closes with velcro and straps to my belt loop.

Earbox, that reminds me of a raccoon trap described in Where the Red Fern Grows. Cut a hole in a log just large enough to fit a raccoon paw, then insert something shiny. A wandering raccoon grabs the shiny object, can’t extract his fist, and then sits there trapped refusing to relinquish his prize.

Yes – the very minute chance that (a) my cell phone will fall in a train toilet and (b) that I will be dumb enough to stick my hand in after it is the VERY REASON I need to purchase a belt clip for my cell phone and go masquerading around looking like a self-important tool.

“This is why you should not carry your phone in your pants pocket. Use a secure clip.”

Malarkey. The last time I caught my dorky bat-belt cell phone holder on a door jam and the spring-loaded clip literally exploded sending the phone crashing to the ground, was when I started carrying my phone in my front pants pocket. Have never had any problems since.

When I’ve had to carry a larger PDA for work I either put in it my coat, shoulder bag, or briefcase. I can’t stand to have a brick of a gadget sticking out from my belt, like I’m a dang cop wearing tools. I’ve even seen people with two or more phones on belt holders, at the same time!

Similar reason I wouldn’t be caught dead wearing a bluetooth headset. I have a wired one, when I need it. If cell phone radiation causes brain cancer, why wouldn’t yet another tiny transceiver, albeit of lower power, cause similar problems?

    Wow, that must have hurt.

Sawed off the hand, or sawed off the toilet bowl?
