House Optimized for Cats and Dogs

As more and more people live without children in Japan (the country has an alarmingly low birth rate), home builders have to adjust. So they’re now coming up with houses optimized for … pets!

Home builder Asahi Kasei has houses optimized for cats:

… and of course, dogs:

    Awww, that’s neat.

Also, I’d like a human-sized equivalent of all the little climbable steps and ceiling-height walkways and in-wall cubbies. What fun. :)

Now you can be the crazy old cat lady but who also lives in a pretty slick looking place. ;)

I like that last picture. “Thou shall not pass! Oh, bacon? Go right ahead then.”

Nice, until you have to clean up cat vomit from inside your wall or on a 4m tall ladder..

For the true pet LOVERS (SPOILERS)
I have you house actually designed with your loved ones in mind.
I’ve seen similar houses before but these were actually designed by Architects. They are very nice.
I always planned on doing the outside cage thing on my house but just never got around to building one.
My new house has a sun room so maybe they’ll be happy with that.

Oh I forgot to mention that my cats kind of have the raised walkway at my house anyway. The just knock anything I have on the shelves out of their way when they decide they want the walk ways. Never put breakables on a shelf that a cat can jump up to.

Is it bad that I REALLY want that cat house?

We had a neighbour in London who had twelve cats. He and his wife had catflaps in all doors because, although they liked a bit of exercise, there’s such a thing as too much.
They also had a fox that lived in/under the conservatory.
    Oddly, the house didn’t smell.

As a dog owner, I’m not so sure I like the idea of indoor trees. It would either encourage them to pee indoors, or (if my dog is anything to go by) dig, and spread dirt all over the place.
