The Well of Chand Baori: If M.C. Escher Were an Architect, This Would be His Building!

What if M.C. Escher designed a real life building? It’d probably be something like the Chand Baori stepwell near Jaipur, India. The amazing 13-stories well was built in the 9th century and has 3,500 narrow steps. Don’t fall - at 100 feet (~30 m) deep, it’s a long way down.

A scene from The Fall (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0460791/) was filmed here. Most of the visuals in the movie seem like they were digital creations. It’s NEAT to see that this place is real.

yeah, this was in the Fall… most of the stuff in the movie were real structures in India…

I’ve seen many locations from The Fall highlighted on Neatorama.

BTW. The Fall is so good.

CGI sucks, there is enough awesome shit in the world to do without.

Can’t wait for that guys next movie, I hope he does a movie based off of the obscure science fiction series The Golden Age.

I like how just the one level has a railing. Are all the others safer, or is that just to keep all the bodies who fell from the higher levels out of the well?

Busted by the grammar police! Since I fixed the title, can I get off with just a warning?

Am I the only one who feels like their legs hurt just looking at that?

Yeah, I think just looking at that causes vertigo as well. So, not only will you feel like you’re falling but eventually you will and all those steps…ouch!

Ugh, green water? Be sure to boil it first.
