The Goblin Shark {wiki} has mostly pink skin and jaws that can protrude out of its skull like the creature in the movie Alien. In this video, the shark is trying to defend himself from a scuba diver. -via Ectoplasmosis

My jaws hurt now…and I have a headache…and I’m feeling a little sick. And yet, I’m also absolutely fascinated!

    Wow, that’s freaky!

Speaking of Alien-like features in real life, we have a nest of Cicada Killer Wasps in our back yard. They are monster-size — up to 2 inches long — and are named for their propensity to sting cicadas to paralyze them, then bring them back to their nest where an egg is laid on them and the larva that hatches feeds on the live cicada. Creepy, no?

My son was freaking out about the wasps, so we did some research on them to show him that they don’t bother — or sting — people. He’s still not entirely comfortable with them though.

Yeah when I saw that mouth extend, it reminded me of the movie Aliens.

I for one, thing it’s amazing that the Geiger model is actually represented in real biological life…right here on Earth!

    It’s cool and all. But,
How’s it taste battered and fried?

Could the Geiger model be a reference to the art of HR Giger?
