1970s Timewarp: Morgan Freeman and Rita Moreno on The Electric Company

I was born in January, 1970 and among countless influences that buoyed my childhood years was The Electric Company - an educational show that aired on PBS stations. The Electric Company was for older kids than the Sesame Street set - a show that also played a part in the media exposure of my young life. The Electric Company was the best - and Morgan Freeman as Easy Reader was my favorite. Here he is as the consummately cool Easy Reader along with Rita Moreno as "Carmela." They don't make childrens' television like this anymore. YouTube.

Dude...I'm so so glad somebody remembers Easy Reader from the Electric Company. I used to go out on my bike after seeing him on EC and pretend I was Easy Reader.

The first time I saw him in a movie, musta been "Teachers" in about 1984, I just about stood up and shouted, "Hey...That's Easy Reader!!"

Thanks for the trip down tv memory lane.

I had the same experience as Rick, except the first movie I saw him in was Street Smarts. It was like seeing an old friend. He's still as cool today, in The Black Knight, as he ever was.

Hey, I was born in January 1970, too! And I have many fond memories of "The Electric Company" and "Sesame Street." This is just about as cool as it gets: Morgan Freeman in pink bell-bottoms, singing about reading.
