Toasted Candy Sandwiches

Posted by Miss Cellania in Food & Drinks on June 6, 2008 at 11:24 am

Rob Manuel of b3ta experimented with making toasted candy sandwiches. Yes, candy on real bread. He and his wife tried three sweets, two I’m not familiar with, but they fall into the apparent categories of what Americans would call chocolate bar, Starburst, and gummi candy. See the results and the reviews of each.

Hey! Does Neatorama read the B3ta.com newsletter? I'm pretty sure I just read this item and the one about the pond letter elsewhere.. It is cool, though.
    Keep up the good work!

If you want to try a Fudge bar, you can probably find them in any UK import store. As an ex-Brit I love the things!

Though Rob needs to knock of the fat bashing, stupid fucktard.

This reminds me, I never tried that peanut butter and marshmallow fluff sandwich I read about a few years ago. Might be making a trip to the store...

We used to make these occasionally (full of chocolate chips, jam, marshmallows etc) when I was little as dessert. I don't see what the big deal is though, it's basically the same thing as pie or pasties.

On a side note, the authors website is rather annoying (is it necessary to type in HUGE letters?) and rather insulting (frequent references to 'internet fatties'). Considering this was their idea and they made and ate them isn't that a bit of the pot calling the kettle black?

BlessedBlogger: been a member of B3ta for years myself. I like the community, but Rob is a twat. I love the way the piece says about making fun of a fat friend. Wow, what a GREAT FRIEND YOU ARE, ROB!

    Jackass.

Dude writes like a 14-yr-old. The link was a great example of how not to do web design.

first i thought: eww. then i looked in our cupboards and saw loads of very sweet bread-toppings, so i guess.... not that abnormal, just that their candy has a different shape and state of aggregation :D ah well.

Ah the halcyon days of UK sweeties, when they all had different names.

You say Snickers we say Marathon, you say Starburst we say Opal Fruits.

Actually that was pretty much the full extent of the difference.

Here's a good recipe for chocolate sandwiches that I make occasionally and they always turn out really well:

Eww Haribo sandwich... its pretty much gelatin and flavourings, no wonder it tasted bad. It probably all melted away and burnt.
And the starburst looks pretty nasty too.
Percy Pig sandwiches are where it's at ^_^
And Pol, the names in the UK are Snickers and Starburst. I think they changed Opal Fruit to Starburst recently, don't know about Marathon though. I've never heard of it.
