Inner City Snail

Slinkachu, the artist who brought you Little People, a Tiny Street Art Project, has a new “moving art” project. It moves pretty slowly, as it consists of snails with painted shells placed in London landscapes. He’s devoted an entire blog to the endeavor. Link -via b3ta

That is very cool and creative. The ones with the little people are really funny too

    Inner city snail.
    Inner city pressure.
The concrete world is starting to get ya.
The city is alive, the city is expanding.
Living in the city can be demanding.
You pawned everything, everything you owned.
Your tooth brush jar and a camera phone.
You don’t know where you’re going.
You cross the street, you don’t know why you did.
You walk back across the street.

I hope he cleaned the snail afterward. Paint inhibits the normal growth of the shell and in the long run kills the animal. I know, I know, “Tim it’s just a snail”. So what? it’s still a living creature.

Why isn’t anyone thinking about snail rights?

I’m surprised PETA hasn’t freaked out about this claiming potential harmful side effects of paint on the shell … or him just “interfering” with the snail’s life to begin with.

Poor snail. He should have used the money he spent on paint to donate to a snail shelter, and save a few lives instead.

I’m not sire why, but I find this amusing.

And yeah, where are all the PETA people to start endless posts about how terrible this is to the poor little escargot-creature?

The snail not know. The snail not care…
