Linoleum Remnants Make a Beautiful Kitchen Floor

By Alex in Architecture, Home & Garden on May 11, 2008 at 8:12 pm

What to do with lots of remnant linoleum floorings? Why, you can make a kitchen floor out of it – and that’s just what the guys over at Dairy of a Vermont Eco Builder did:

In keeping with our eco design model, and just for the sheer fun of it, we’ve decided that the kitchen floor will be made up from all the leftover pieces of Marmoleum we’ve saved so far.

(The floor’s not finished yet – they just put down the pieces to see where they’d go.) Link – via materialicious

I don’t know about anyone else – but that’s the ugliest floor I think I have ever seen…

i love the look, but just imagine the grime and dirt that will build up between every “tile”. Yuck! They’ll be putting in a new floor every year.

    nice idea

    UGLY damn lino.

    it’s that crappy “marbled” rubbish.

    Yuck.

    Also incredibly badly done.

Look at how bowed out the individual parts are.

I suspect this ii either half done only pretend.

The picture shown is before the tiles are fixed to the floor. If you look at their other pictures, you will see it once it has been installed.

It’s obvious the author of this post didn’t even finish reading the post at my blog, which clearly states the photo above is the ‘before’ shot. See my blog or the original site for finished results.

It’s a great idea. I think linoleum is kind of innately tacky and that’s part of the wonderfulness of the design.
And I actually really like the final pictures. The colors came together pretty nicely.

That is really cool! Wouldn’t have ever thought to do that with remnant pieces. Thanks for sharing this!
