Vintage Ads of Fictional Futures

Posted by Alex in Advertising on April 23, 2008 at 10:45 am

Mark Rayner of the Skwib blog and author of the novel "The Amadeus Net" (plot: turns out that Wolfgang Amaeus Mozart is immortal and has been making a living by selling "lost" works of Mozart!) has a fun photoshop contest: a vintage ad poster of a product from a fictional future!

Here are the top ten finalists: LinkThanks Max!

You know what's funny? Any time Neatorama posts about a funny or old ad, AdBlockPlus always hides the image. Wierd, eh?

Hahaha! I always liked the campy, over the top, super sugary feeling to these kind of ads.

Speaking for the family, my father would no doubt have been smiling merrily if he could have seen this. Also, personally, I was tickled beyond words when I first saw that entry. Nice to see such things, even nicer to be surprised by them in a favorite place like neatoramaa.

My BiL will be upset - he got his doctorate by reconstructing bits of lost Mozart!
