Camera on a Bench Beckons Strangers to Take Photos

By Alex in Everything Else on Mar 20, 2008 at 5:51 am

Jay Carlson of The Plug tied a disposable camera to a bench with a sign asking people to take photos. When he came back later that evening, the entire roll of film had been shot.

Here are the photos that were taken: Link – via growabrain

    Wow, that is so cool!

I’d think about doing that, but I’d say that either the camera would get stolen, or I’d just get photos of asses and bollocks. :/

I live in Atlanta, so I now exactly where these were taken….what an awesome idea! Thanks for putting it on Neatorama!

I agree with both of you.
Awesome idea, great pics and I can’t believe the camera was still there at the end of the day.

I live in Atlanta as well. I LOVE that area of town. That is such a neat idea! Thinking about doing it also.

Maybe there’s hope for the human species after all.

I’m a little surprised that that there were so few interesting shots. Most were just poorly composed snapshots of strangers.

    Great idea, though.

I see this as exemplifying what is ‘right’ about our society. That one person can start something that is carried out by strangers with the same spirit of involvement is great. Whether you think the photographs are good or not is secondary to the fact that they were willing to get involved.

That’s such a great idea! I think I’ll do that in my own town.

ok- not that it’s the most important thing going, but I starred this on my feed reader while I was on the road so that I could look at it when I got back to my desk- so why can I not open the page? It’s not just a bad connection…
