Food Fight: Wars Acted Out by Fighting Countries’ Food

By Alex in Food & Drink, Video Clips, Weapons & War on Mar 2, 2008 at 6:15 am

Stefan Nadelman‘s short film, titled "Food Fight," is an abridged history of war, from World War II to present day, "acted out" by food of the countries involved. It’s a little American-centric, but still … Stefan said "Watch as traditional comestibles slug it out for world domination in this chronologically re-enacted smorgasbord of aggression."

The best thing about making a movie like this is that after it’s done you can eat the actors.

How interesting that even watching food get splattered can be downright disturbing when they’ve been anthropomorphized … I thought it was going to be silly but it actually felt surprisingly grave; very interesting (and Alex, I just wanted to point out that there’s not yet a link attached to that “cheat sheet” thing, just the -word- “link”) …

Phenomenal! I usually frown on exploiting 9/11, but that was really well done. The sound effects and music – top notch stuff.

I like the Vietnamese spring rolls, and the end when the kebabs got pay back. But what and who was that big green salad with the beef on top maybe it was anchovies on a ceasar. I dunno

Funny thing is that I’ve had most of those types of foods except the Cuban Sandwich. Though I’m sure if I went and visited a tiny little part of Toronto that has a large Cuban population I’d get some for sure. :)

Oh man, Ali S., you’re missing out if you’ve never had a Cuban sandwich – not sure how the Toronto ones rate but in Tampa, FL where I’m originally from … mmm, ham and pork and mustard and pickles and swiss cheese, all on that heavenly, oh-so inimitable Cuban bread, hot from the sandwich press and served with a side of black bean soup for dipping … I’m not even much of a meat-eater but those things are irresistible.

Go! Visit! Bliss out on the meaty, sandwichy goodness!

    @ StacyJ

Sounds tasty as heck! Oddly, it sounds a lot like a Panini!

Brilliant, and somehow funny & sad at the same time. The animation is absolutely incredible!
