Trivia: Kirk Never Said “Beam Me Up, Scotty!”



James T, KirkCaptain Kirk NEVER said "Beam me up, Scotty!" The exact quotes were: "Scotty, beam me up" and "Beam them out of there, Scotty."

The phrase got so popular, however, that James Doohan (1920 - 2005), the actor who played Montgomery "Scotty" Scott in Star Trek, used it as the title of his autobiography.

    reminds me of the Apollo 13 misquote. both Swigert and Lovell said “houston, we’ve *had* a problem…”

    That reminds me of the famous misstatement by Neil Armstrong, who was scripted to say, “One small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind.” Instead, he pronounced, “One small step for… whoa! Dude! This is WAY cool!”
