Cartoon Retro

By Alex in Comics & Cartoons on Dec 17, 2007 at 3:39 am

Cartoonist Shane Glines has built Cartoon Retro to be the world’s largest online repository of vintage illustration, animation and cartoons from the 1920s to the 1960s.

The website is subscription-only, with a $5 monthly access fee (or a yearly $50), but that’s a small price to pay for the thousands of archived images within: Link – via Cartoon Brew (who has samples of the artwork recently posted on the site)

While we’re talking animation archives, don’t forget to check out the ASIFA-Hollywood Animation Archive http://animationarchive.org/

The International Animated Film Society: ASIFA-Hollywood has embarked on an ambitious project to create an animation archive, museum, and library for the benefit of the animation community, students and general public. They are in the process of building an ANIMATION DATABASE which contains biographies of artists, filmographic info and media files- movies, artwork and audio.
